Elder Abuse
CREA of Memphis and Shelby County works with a network of agencies to address elder abuse and improve the protection of older adults by empowering them so they may be an advocate for themselves and their communities.
Led by a team of professional victim advocates and care coordinators, CREA partners function as a multi-disciplinary team sharing case details with the informed consent of clients.
CREA streamlines the coordination and provision of services to older victims of abuse and neglect, and works to build safeguards to reduce the likelihood that abuse will occur again in the future.
Our care coordinators, help ensure safety as we age, and help older people identify goals for recovery and life post-abuse.
Health screenings of CREA clients indicate these individuals have an improved ability to function and quality of life.
CREA is supported by the Plough Foundation.
Victims are able to receive all the support they need in one place with the help of a care coordinator. These services include victim advocacy, law enforcement, healthcare services, legal support, and housing assistance.
CREA services are intended for individuals over the age of 60 who seek help in response to elder abuse. By working together to prevent and address elder abuse, we can build stronger communities for all.
Elder abuse affects communities on many levels, from public health to civic participation to economic resources. For our communities to thrive, we need everyone in them to thrive too. Shelby County, the most populated county in TN with just under 1 million people, is home to more than 163,000 older adults.
