On May 11, 2,100 dancers in 156 cities all over the world will dance together to raise awareness and donations for abused women’s and children’s shelters in their areas. All of the dancers will perform the same dance, to the same music and dress in the same T-shirts to symbolize their unity against domestic violence.
The Shimmy Mob – Memphis team will perform on Saturday, May 11 at noon at the Oak Court Mall and at 1 p.m. at Bumpus Harley-Davidson, 2160 Whitten Road to benefit the Family Safety Center of Memphis and Shelby County.
In addition, Shimmy Mob – Memphis is collaborating with Shimmy Mob – Southaven to produce an entire show of Middle Eastern and fusion-style dances at 7 p.m. on May 11 at the Rumba Room, 303 S. Main St., Memphis. Tickets are $10, and net proceeds from tickets sales and a silent auction will be split between the Family Safety Center of Memphis and Shelby County and Survival, Inc. of North Mississippi.
