Mayor Luttrell Begins Family Life Series
Shelby County Government wants to partner with faith-based organizations and other groups to host Mayor Mark Luttrell’s new Family Life Series. Representatives from Shelby County Government and other community agencies will host the first series of meetings next month.
“We believe the meetings will acquaint citizens with some important community resources. We hope the sessions will educate and encourage people to help us in our mission of serving others,” said Shelby County Mayor Mark H. Luttrell, Jr.
The Pursuit of God Transformation Center at 3171 Signal Street in Frayser will host the first series. These hour-long sessions will be held each Wednesday night in September at 7:15 p.m. Here’s the presentation schedule:
- September 5th- “Community Alliance for the Homeless”- Katie Kitchin, Executive Director, and Sharon Moore-Edwards will talk about services that address the needs of the homeless
- September 12th- “Shelby County Crime Victims Center”- Anna Whalley, Administrator, will outline how crime victims are assisted through their court hearings, crisis counseling, financial assistance and social service needs
- September 19th- “Shelby Cares”- Terry Donald, with the Shelby County Office of Preparedness, will discuss the role of faith-based groups during a time of community disaster
- September 26th- “Family Safety Center”- Executive Director Olliette Murry-Drobot and Program Operations Director Rubbie King will speak about a variety of services for domestic violence victims and others needing special assistance
